advertorial dealsandsteals Marissa Spada has fond memories of growing up in the 1970's when cut-off Levis ruled and everyone had the most fantastic belts. She has turned her memories and love of all things vintage into a collection of belts reminisant of the 60's and 70's. Her line of whimsical belt buckles with hand-tooled, painted and studded belt straps posess a vintage rock and roll vibe with a fun, girly twist. To celebrate the launch of Marissa's new website, Lucy's Sister, she is offering nedandshell's Weekly Dose readers 15% off their web purchase. gottagetit Hat weather is finally here, which means bad hair has a new home. Never before has your frustration with stray, unruly locks been greeted with such a stylish solution and a smile. The dilemma now, which hair hiding hat will you choose? Will it be your newsboy, fedora or possibly this adorable knit cap by Alison Beth Company? With so many playful, hand-knit pieces to choose from, you are sure to find one just right for you. Best part--with everyone paying attention to your chocolate chapeau, they'll never notice your terrible tresses.
tipoff Love the ice, can't have the cream? We know your pain, and we are here to cure the lactose intolerant of their bovine blues. Laura Howard, founder of Laloo's Goat Milk Ice Cream, created the brand when she too was told to stay away from her favorite treat. Thanks to her, not only can you now have ice cream again, but flavors like Black Mission Fig, Molasses Tipsycake and Pumpkin Spice will become part of your delicious, cow-free repertoire of delectable desserts. Laura says she decided to use goat's milk "because it's as close to a perfect food as possible in nature. It is a complete protein containing all the essential amino acids without the heavy fat content and catarrh producing materials of cow's milk." After countless hours of learning, mixing and tasting (the best part!), you too can declare freedom from the forbidden pint.
stylebio Lindsey Wieber and Gwen Whiting, co-founders of The Laundress(TM), created this luxury fabric care and specialty detergent line to take the chore out of laundry. They saw the necessity of properly caring for their clothing, but were not able to find products that met their standards of delicacy and fragrance. This propelled the ladies to design a luxurious brand of detergents and fabric care. Lindsey and Gwen were both educated in Textile and Apparel Design and Management at Cornell University. Lindsey was the Manager of U.S. Sales for CHANEL Ready-to-Wear while Gwen was a Senior Designer of the Ralph Lauren Home Collection. While in college, the duo knew they possessed the same entrepreneurial spirit that would one day develop into a joint venture. Lindsey and Gwen finally combined their research and knowledge of the luxury business to create their own line of products with carefully developed scents, and in March 2004, The Laundress launched. Their enthusiasm, drive and creativity will ensure that The Laundress is just the beginning of many great things to come.
